Prior to joining Point72 Ventures, Kibbie worked on the investment team at DRW Venture Capital where he focused on early- and growth-stage companies operating in the fintech, capital markets, and digital assets space. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Wheaton College.

I believe that institutional participation in the digital asset space will require a new set of tools to meet the regulatory, security, and quality standards that institutions expect. The most transformative businesses to emerge in this environment might just be the ones that bridge the gap between crypto-native and traditional market participants.

I believe that every financial institution and fintech company in the world will one day interact with blockchain. If that’s the case, these companies will need tools and infrastructure to bridge the gap between crypto and traditional financial services, and to embed digital assets into their existing workflows. I am interested in technologies that unlock the full potential of digital assets and web3 for financial institutions.
The most important part of my research process is maintaining a network of market participants and innovators.
Through meaningful conversation, we can track pain points and uncover the market’s specific demands for further innovation. By maintaining a deep understanding of innovations and developments in the industry, we can try to identify companies that solve inefficiencies in the market. When both facets are achieved, we have the opportunity to play a role in providing useful innovation to the marketplace.
