Lainy Thomas is a Business Analyst on the Platform Team at Point72 Ventures, focused on elevating data insights, and increasing efficiency across the firm and its portfolio companies.
Prior to joining Point72 Ventures, Lainy was at K1 Investment Management, a private equity firm in Los Angeles, where she was a Strategy & Operations Consultant. In this role, Lainy worked with the firm’s portfolio companies’ post-investment on initiatives across different functional areas to accelerate growth. Lainy attended both undergrad and graduate school at USC where she received a BA in International Relations Global Business and an MS in Business Analytics.
Data fascinates me.
From automating data collection and analysis to synthesizing actionable insights from data to inform business decisions, with the vast amount of data we have available to us today, I think it’s important to uncover the “so what” in order to move the needle.
I learn by doing .
I learn best when I’m receiving hands-on instruction from experts and getting the opportunity to do the work, make mistakes, and find ways to improve through iteration.
My teammates motivate me.
As a former college volleyball player, I’m motivated by the people around me – being part of a team that is working towards the same goals and accomplishing them together.
