I’m a storyteller at heart.
I ran the student newspaper at Middlebury College, which sparked my fascination with stories — and, eventually, telling stories about companies. Today, I love “getting the scoop” when I’m exploring new sectors or themes and meeting innovative companies. I like to view startups as novels with only their earliest chapters written and plenty of blank pages ahead — and I love helping write and become part of those stories when I support my founders post-investment.
I believe in empathy above all.
One of my most rewarding jobs was counseling and mentoring first-year students when I was still in college. The skills I gained from that role have easily transferred into venture capital, and what I love most about this job is understanding people — what drives founders to build their businesses and what draws customers to their products or offerings. I find the best consumer investors have an unparalleled knack for empathizing with people and distilling human behavior.
I have a truly multistage upbringing.
Before moving into venture capital, I grew up in the late stage and began my career in investment banking and private equity. Although I eventually found my calling in the early and growth stages, I feel fortunate to have now worked with companies across all stages — which gives me a unique perspective on what can help startups scale and win, regardless of where they are in their lifecycles.
