Private markets have become more sophisticated

Private markets have become more sophisticated over time, which has allowed modern-day tech incumbents to stay private much longer. In staying private, companies are often able to maintain more flexibility as well as shelter from drastic swings.

Growth stage requires operational resources and knowledge

Regardless of public market appetite, I anticipate that more great companies will continue to turn to private markets at the growth stage — not only to access capital but to tap into the operational resources and knowledge required to scale exceptional businesses.
