Great founders have unparalleled drive and vision.

I spend a lot of time thinking about motivation and vision. I was blessed to spend my younger years with world-class athletes, scholars, and the most tested combat leaders on the planet. They all had a clear line of sight to what they were trying to achieve and what it would take to get there. When meeting with founders, I ponder how hard these individuals will drive to win and the change they want to create in the world.

On the lookout for great cultures.

Star players can win championships for a year or two, but dynasties are created by teams. Similarly, enduring companies take 10+ years of team performance, woven together by culture. Transformative leaders understand that culture starts at the top and are thoughtful about the organizations they build.
